Brooklyn Tabernacle

Aesthetic

In creating a campus environment for the Brooklyn Tabernacle, Kostow Greenwood unified multiple structures and created a new identity for the complex. We converted four buildings, the most noteworthy being the 1918 Loew’s Metropolitan Theater, into a single campus that occupies an entire block in downtown Brooklyn. Although the façades of the buildings are never visible at the same time, we succeeded in connecting them visually, which we accomplished by using a similar brick and limestone material palette giving the buildings a contemporary yet historically sympathetic language.
